Description: For sale is an absolutely charming oil on canvas portrait, painting of a lovely little girl We have seen many child portraits paintings, but this ranks up there as probably the most adorable painting that we have ever come across. The young girl is identified as Moira Cameron MacVeagh Burnham (1937 - 2021). She would've been 5 or 6 when this painting was commissioned. And most likely when she was living in New York City. The artist, Hermann Hanatschek (Austria 1873-1963) was a very gifted portrait painter, but there is not much information on the artist. He was born in Austro-Hungarian Empire and eventually emigrated to the US. His most famous painting is probably that of Beekman Winthrop, former Governor of Puerto Rico. That painting resides in the collection of the Harvard Art Museum. Hanatschek painted portrait commissions in New York City, as well as Philadelphia and other areas primarily in the northeast. The young girl sits in pose for the artist with the most lovely innocent smile. Her curly blonde hair tied with a blue bow. She gazes directly at the viewer with her big blue eyes. She wears a very colorful Japanese kimono style dress that the artist does a wonderful job capturing in fine detail. The painting is oil on canvas. It is unframed. It is signed and dated by the artist in the upper section. Condition: The painting having a couple areas of surface abrasions. Nothing that can't be easily restored by an art restored. There is no damage to the canvas just some surface loss primarily on the wooden stretcher line. If you google Moira MacVeagh Burnham you can find the obituary information on Moira. She was certainly a young girl who grew up to be an interesting woman and very loved human being. We hope this painting makes it back to someone who cherished her. Measurements: 28" x 22" Unframed
