Description: First published in 1939, this is the stated Thirteenth Printing in September of 1940. This is the rare Book League version, as noted on dust jacket: "THIS EDITION IS MANUFACTURED EXCLUSIVELY FOR MEMBERS OF THE BOOK LEAGUE OF AMERICA". This is not to be confused the Book Club Edition, which was published in 1965. The dust jacket shows heavy wear, with tears along the creases of the spine, a horizontal tear of the dust jacket about 1" from the bottom of the spine, some chunks missing top of spine, and further small chips and tears along the edges. It is intact all the way around and now handsomely preserved and portrayed in a mylar jacket. The book alone is in VERY GOOD CONDITION. Clean cloth boards, slightly darkened spine, little edge and corner wear. A previous owner neatly inked name and date on front endpaper (see listing photo). No further marks in 619 clean and solidly bound pages, faded top stain. There is a small stain on page edges seen in last photo - no impact to the interior pages. B23
