With gorgeous monochromatic blue and orange illustrations, this map is an animated and exciting look at the Bluegrass State. The state is shown in the center of the map overlaid onto illustrations of famous figures of Kentucky origin, indigenous peoples, horses, and famous buildings. These illustrations are done in monochromatic blues which contrast with the drawing of the state, shown in white. Included on the map of Kentucky are various highways and cities, as well as landmarks, attractions, and state parks like Mammoth Caves, which contains the longest known cave system in the world. At the top and bottom of the map are illustrations in monochromatic orange, which show attractions as well as important buildings and figures like Monte Casino, Uncle Tom, and Man o’ War, widely regarded as the best racehorse of the 20th century. The accompanying 90+ page booklet complete with additional regional maps and well over 100 images offers a wealth of information on the history and attractions of Kentucky, divided into seven sections; "the Beargrass," "the National Park Area," "the Bluegrass and Northern Kentucky," "Eastern Kentucky," "the Pennyrile," and "the Purchase." Additional sections offer information on the thoroughbred, natural resources, industry, climate, and an index of hotels, cafes, and garages by location with pricing. The Kentucky Progress Commission was formed in 1928 to draw tourism and business to Kentucky.
