Description: Owen, Dora; editor. The Book of Fairy Poetry. 16 tipped-in color plates by Goble on captioned mounts, with tissue guards. 4to, top edges trimmed, others deckled . first english trade edition. London and New York: Longmans, Green & Co., (1920) This collection of fairy poetry includes Tolkien's poem ''Goblin Feet'', which had been Tolkien''s first book appearance in Oxford Poetry 1915, and has its first illustrated iteration here. Original illustrated dustwrapper is included as pictured. Negatives: appears evenly trimmed along top 1/2 inch, has been taped(verso) at some point in past with what appears to be archival tape, big chip bottom front panel corner. Positives: the freaking dustwrapper is present! 1920! Survived!! Really do I need to say more?(if scratching your head research Fitzgerald’s Gatsby 1st ed as reference point as to early printed original DW significance). The illustration for Tolkiens poem was ripped(see close up picture) and repaired. It is the original illustration, all other tipped in illustrations are also present. Book is clean. Unmarked. Collectible. Bid with confidence, this book is accurately described, our packaging is bulletproof and 30 day return privileges for any reason.
