Description: 1917 - 1919 WORLD WAR I LOVE LETTER ARCHIVE14 LETTERS and 1 POSTCARD WILBUR V. BRYSONUS ARMY / AMEX / AEFCO. D 35th ENGINEERSROCKFORD, IL and FRANCE to MISS MABELLE BRITT ASHEVILLE, NC ONE OF THOUSANDS OF ITEMS AVAILABLE IN OUR EBAY STORE ! AGE: OCTOBER 1917 - FEBRUARY 1919 LOCATION: ASHEVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA, ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS, FRANCE DESCRIPTION: This is a small archive of World War I love letters! This lot consists of fourteen (14) letters and one (1) postcard that date between October 1917 and February 1919. The letters are from soldier Private Wilbur V. Bryson of Company D, 35th Engineers, to Miss Mabelle Britt of Grenada, MS and Asheville, NC. The letters follow Bryson from training in Rockford, Illinois, to his time with the U.S. Army in Europe and the AEF in France. One letter falls in the same timeline, but is from John Cargile, Home Missionary and Evangelist, of Bridgeport, Alabama to Miss Mabelle Britt in Grenada, Mississippi, regarding the recent death of Mabelle's father. It appears from the letter that the Britt family was of the Seventh Day Adventist sect. The final postcard announces Bryson's impending return to the United States. This collection offers a great opportunity to examine life on the battlefield and Homefront in Asheville during WWI. From what little research we performed, we learned that the Bryson family was a prominent family in Western North Carolina --- Wilbur was one of 12 children, and his father, a railroad engineer and employee on the Southern Railway for over 40 years, passed away on the job in 1932. A great character study for the historical fiction writer! Also great primary source material for the Britt family genealogy, Bryson family genealogy, or Seventh Day Adventist history researcher. CONDITION: GOOD. Postally used. Moderate to heavy envelope wear. SHIPPING: UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE. Thanks for looking, and have a blessed day.
