Description: Periodically we experience problems with our scanner. Today is one of those days. Depending upon which view you choose, the first scan will show horizontal lines and/or cross hatching marks, sometimes with yellow striping. Rest assured, these are not on the cards.Offered for your consideration is . . . Complete BALTIMORE TERRAPINS Set ~ 8 card team set ~ Issued by Historic Autograph** Company *Commemorating the 1914-1915 Federal Baseball League**Cards are NOT actually autographed ~ The name of the company producing each card has "Autograph" in its name In 2019, Historic Autograph Company (HA) of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, issued a 66 card base set honoring the 1914-1915 Federal League. The Feds were a rival for two seasons in direct competition with the established National and American Leagues. Several recognized stars from the A.L. and N.L. were induced by high salaries to jump to the Feds. In addition, some others (who would later perform for the surviving major leagues) got their start as Federal Leaguers - among them was 1962 Hall of Fame inductee, Edd Roush. Among these 66 base cards are as many as 18 "First Cards" for players who never previously had their image on a baseball card while a couple of others had previously only been included in minor-league sets. Federal League images are quite difficult to find but, thanks to Historic Autograph Company, a number of holes in collections will be filled. This set mixes with the original 1914-1915 Cracker Jack cards (or their 1980s reprint counterparts) well. Each card measures 2-1/4 by 3 inches in size - same as the original 109 year old Cracker Jack trading cards in vogue during the Feds' brief fling at Big Time Baseball! Cards of this size fit perfectly in standard 9-pocket collector pages with full card coverage.Historic Autograph Company, with its interesting and varied subjects, is filling an important, collector friendly niche. This complete team set includes:#5 Chief Bender ~ #27 Otto Knabe ~ #36 Bernhard Meyer ~ #40 Jack Picus Quinn ~ #42 Harvey Russell ~ #44 Jimmy Smith ~ #54 Ned Hanlon ~ Terrapin Park, home of the Baltimore FedsThe Baltimore Terrapins roster included Hall of Fame great Chief Bender and another HOF'er, longtime manager (then Terrapin co-owner) Ned Hanlon; also, Jack Quinn who would win 247 big league games, and Otto Knabe, fine second baseman who managed the Terrapins both seasons. Condition: Near-Mint - as taken from a factory box (shown in the second scan)Any number of these commemorative Federal League sets will ship via USPS Ground Advantage for the single set shipping rate IF the buyer requests a combined invoice before paying.Postscript: Our last scan has nothing to do with this listing. It is a picture of all-time baseball great Ted Williams with The Baseball Hobbyist's Steve Mitchell at a 1983 Connecticut sports collectors gathering - Ted's very first-ever collector event. On the second day of the show "The Splendid Splinter" visited with collectors and dealers and graciously posed for this photo. (Photo was taken by fellow collector-dealer Bob Thing, longtime Maine hobbyist). _______________________ Important: Shipping Information Our goal has always been to keep shipping costs low.
