Description: A nice example of a Chippendale mahogany fall front desk with compartmentalized interior, featuring valanced open cubbies, fitted drawers, a beautifully inlaid prospect door opening to two interior drawers, clean writing surface, over four graduated drawers with replaced period brasses, and dovetailed construction, all supported by a carved bracket base. Probably New England origin, dating to the late 18th or early 19th century, in very good overall condition, with some foot restorations, shrinkage cracks, minor stains, old hinge break repairs, and other imperfections and wear commensurate with age and use.
