Description: I have here for sale a pair of rare books entitled TOPOGRAPHICAL MISCELLANIES Vols I and II containing Ancient Histories, and Modern Descriptions, of Mansions, Churches, Monuments, and Families with 53 engraved plates across the two volumes. First edition published by J Robson, London. There are 18 plates in Vol I and 35 in Vol II. Each volume is a bind up of the monthly issue of The Topographer. Vol I contains January to June 1791's issues and Vol II contains firstly a section of The Topographer with no particular issue but general features on specific seats/monuments in different counties of the country; and then Topographical Miscellanies randomly bound on Sussex, Pevensey Rape, Cambridgeshire, Oxfordshire, Kent, Berkshire, Hampshire, Staffordshire, and Derbyshire. Half brown calf leather on blue and brown marbled hardboards. Dark brown leather title blocks with gilt lettering to the spines. Vol I has a detached rear board and a split hinge to the front board. Leather to the spine is partially missing. Last few pages are detached/loose. Vol II has two split hinges but the boards are still fairly firm. Pages still tightly bound. Condition: good. Vol I - 362 pages, Vol II - unpaginated but approx the same length. 26 x 20 cm.We have over 2000 items in our Ebay shop on a wide range of subjects, so please feel free to have a browse and see if and anything else takes your fancy.
