This canna got its name inspired by a song ‘Club tropicana’ of English pop duo Wham!, released in 1983 and is dedicated in memory of George Michael – bands’ singer, songwriter and record producer. Canna ‘Club Tropicanna’ is a superb looking medium/small size canna that grows 3-4 feet tall with average spread. Upright lance-shaped apple green leaves are topped with extremely bright golden-orange orchid-like flowers Mid Summer to Late Fall. Average water needs. Grows best in partial sun but can tolerate partial shaded locations. In our trials this canna proved to be a vigorous grower and prolific bloomer July through October in zone 7b. Give them at least 4 hours of direct sunlight in somewhat wind sheltered location with hummus rich moist soil and these cannas will reward you with spikes of brightest blooms. Cannas love heat and humidity and require a minimum of four hours of direct sunlight to bloom abundantly. Pictures are of actual plants in my garden the rhizomes/seeds eventually will grow into.
